Get ready for a blast from the past with Avgvst and Crosby Studios' latest collaboration, a jewelry collection that's all about embracing the 1990s!
This unique partnership between Berlin's Avgvst and Harry Nuriev's Crosby Studios has taken an exciting turn, focusing on jewelry that's both nostalgic and thought-provoking.
"Harry's artistic vision knows no bounds," says Avgvst founder Natalia Bryantseva. "He sees potential in everything, and that's what makes this collaboration so special."
The duo has already created some memorable spaces together, like the Berlin flagship store where restaurant equipment doubled as jewelry displays, and a Paris pop-up that was a mirror-filled cave of humanity's creations.
"This new collection is a natural progression of that creative journey," Bryantseva explains. "Harry believes that art can be found in anything, even the most unexpected places."
And that's exactly what Nuriev has done with this collection. He's taken everyday, mundane objects from the 1990s and given them a precious, ironic twist.
"We wanted to play with nostalgia and transformism," Nuriev says. "It's all about revisiting those familiar objects with a fresh perspective."
The collection features 34 trinkets, available in silver and vermeil, that will take you on a trip down memory lane. From a VHS cassette to a Tamagotchi and a retro cell phone, it's a treasure trove of 90s nostalgia. There's even a music-themed subset with a microphone, CD, headphones, and a cassette tape, perfect for those who lived through the era of Walkmans and mixtapes.
These trinkets can be worn on hoop earrings or chains, and there are also pre-made sets and individual pieces, including rings and bangles.
"These pieces are more than just jewelry," Nuriev tells WWD. "They're memories, stories waiting to be told. They can be worn, displayed, or simply admired as art."
Priced from 40 euros for the smallest trinkets to 1,290 euros for a statement necklace, this collaboration is a must-have for anyone who wants to embrace their inner 90s kid.
So, are you ready to relive the 90s through this unique jewelry collection? It's a fun, nostalgic journey that's sure to spark some interesting conversations.
And here's the controversial part: do you think everyday objects can be elevated to art? Is this collection a clever tribute to the 90s, or does it miss the mark? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
